    Hello

My name is Daniel Tobas.  I'm in the U.S.  I am intrested in learning more.  I am also interested in learning about what people are doing to promote market anarchy.

    Hi Daniel...

Well currently we're forming covert cells, which will penetrate the establishment and  virulently spread a new devastating meme, upon their members empty heads...

    Wanna join & play???

    We need new martyrs...

I don't want to be a martyr.  I was thinking that maybe I could help expose these ideas to people. Penetrate the establishment?  How so?

    You certainly can...

Go to Yale.  Join Skull and Bones.  Do the gay sex rituals and become a satanist.  Become the leader of the NWO.  Expose it all!

Seriously though, just keep on listening to Stefan's podcasts.  Which ones have you listened to so far?

I've listened to the first five or so.  Also I've lisened to a few videos, and some later podcasts.  I started listening to Stefan in July and have spent a lot of time thinking about the ideas I've been exposed to.  I'd rather come up with a free market solution myself than listen to Stefan's podcast.  No offence Stefan, I enjoy the mental excercise.  I've taken a lot of technical courses (math) and Stefan's podcasts are like looking in the back of the book for an answer, what's the fun in that?

I reserve the right to think freely.  Smile

Is there a free market solution, for technical courses students (math), who seek to reinvent the wheel unnecessarily?

Yeah, I don't bother with convential computer science teachings. I figure I'll start with binary and teach it to myself. Anyone got some spare vacuums and silicon?

Hey Daniel. Welcome to Freedomain! How did you manage to find Stef and his podcast? Do you already consider yourself a market anarchist, or are you exploring the idea? Whereabouts in the US are you? Are you still in school, or are you employed?

Of course, Stef promotes market anarchy right here at Freedomain every single day, but perhaps not quite in the way you might be thinking. Unlike the standard libertarian message you see on other sites, which tend to promote a foregone conclusion as a "cause", the approach here is more methodological in nature, beginning with the basic philosophical approach of rationalism and empiricism. Rationally, we depend on the rules of both deductive and inductive logic, and empirically, we depend on the scientific method.

If you attempt to apply that approach consistently throughout the whole of your life, certain consequences from the drawn conclusions become apparent. For example, real freedom not only necessitates the elimination of the state and the rejection of mystical notions such as God and heaven, but also the reassessment of personal relationships not centered on mutual benefit and reciprocation. In short - the elimination of all unchosen obligations and impositions from your personal life.

The beauty of that idea, is that all one need do to promote market anarchy, is to simply live one's life as one chooses, and to reject the use of violence, aggression, or intimidation, in one's dealings with other human beings. That's it.

Stef has developed a few excellent theories to support all this, that are worth taking a look at over on his blog, if you haven't seen them yet. The first, is his own notion of "Universally Preferred Behavior", a Freedomain flavor of universal morality. The second, is the "Dispute Resolution Organization" or "DRO", which functions as a mental model for the way private agencies could offer for profit, such services as security, dispute mediation, restitution, insurance, product and personal integrity ratings, free market currency, and such.

If you are a market anarchist, do you have any thoughts on how such things could be done? What about your conception of freedom? Have you given much consideration to the question of personal integrity? What do you see as the most pressing problem in your life, or your community today, that might be answered through market anarchy?

Welcome! It's interesting to hear you want to work on the ideas independently, let me know what you come up with! Big Smile

Using the ideas of others IS a free market solution. The big mountain though is not about finding the truth but about applying it to your own life. This is a thing that we all have to figure out and work out for ourselves.

That's exactly a point I was going to make.  There can never be too many free market solutions to a problem.  The market will weed out the bad ones in the end.

    Stefan,

I have some work to do right now.  When I find time I'll write up what I think about currency.  I'll argue against FIAT, and gold standard.  At least I'll talk about good and bad properties of both.  Then I'll explain another guy's idea that I think might be better.  I think a podcast on stateless currency should be one of the first because you can't have a liquid market without currency.  It's very important!  After thought I think you were assuming that currency was on a gold standard.

    Greg,

That's a lot of questions, I'll post again tomorrow.  Here's one answer.  I heard about Stefan on Hellbound alleee.  Stefan may want to know that too.

It's nice to talk to you all.  I've been thinking about it since July.   It'll be nice to start talking about it.
