Ah, thanks for that. I saw that commercial earlier today. "No matter how they see them, they are always looking up--up the barrel of a gun."

Balloon I love you, You are round, smooth and pretty. I rub you. Static.

GREAT re-write of that, James. I love it.

One thing I noticed about the Army Reserve version of those commercials, was how the civilian-to-soldier morph, always ended with him holding a big-effing-gun.

i.e., "Army Strong" means toting a 60-caliber, on the back of a Hum-vee.

I've not exactly been catching ads for the US army lately, so I went to check out the ads on youtube.

and... wow that is some remarkable propaganda, I feel the need to make a parody myself :)

    Re: NOT Army Strong

    I felt nervous doing this.

It was late when I did this (around midnight).  I patched the piano output through my headphones and closed my windows so that I wouldn't disturb anybody... but there was also the thought that somebody might hear me anyway and, deciphering what it is I was doing/saying, come to my apartment and violently demand entrance... this is pretty much what I experienced from my father as a child and a teenager, and at that point in time, I was just "making noise," not talking about universal ethics.

I felt more nervous when I began to record the voice, again, the same "somebody will hear it and come find me" fear.  The first attempt was extemporaneous and included FDR right at the end, and after I did that, I began to think that maybe I shouldn't make this an "ad" for FDR.  I decided to keep it since 20 seconds isn't very long and in the event somebody wants to hear more, that gives them somewhere to go in case the media file somehow gets disseminated.

That level of nervousness I felt when recording the vocal track kept up for a while, probably an hour or two, but did not increase nor decrease as I compiled the file, posted it on my blog, and then on the forums.

I don't feel nervous now, however, and thank you all for your compliments.  However...

I was thinking that the next step could be to create a vid that has war images.

They make 60 cal personnel guns? And I thought 50 cal was big.

If they are supposed to be protecting our freedoms then they are the most feeble force in the history of the world.
