You may be a Statist if...

    Video Idea:

I think Anarchists have kind of ignored the humor inherent in Statism, at least in our videos.  Presenting statist contradictions in humorous ways might be a successful strategy for a youtube video.  I think Stef could pull something like this off.

You know that famous series of jokes that goes "You might be a redneck if...........your family tree doesn't fork."

It would be fun to have a podcast or video with a bunch of these jokes related to Statism or Anarchism.

Here are some I've been able to think of.  But feel free to add your own!

You might be a Statist if you:

Believe that people are too stupid to be trusted with deciding what to eat...but that these same people are, through voting, qualified to make good decisions with regards to, war, economics, drug policy, abortion, death-penalty, international trade, schools, immigration, liberties...and yes...ironically, what should be legal to eat.

Believe that people can't be trusted with their own property....yet, when it comes time to vote...can be trusted with the property of others.

Believe the government should be the final arbiter of conflicts regarding itself...and are appalled when government power and taxation grows.

Believe that, in order to protect us against people who might steal our property by force, we must give an organization the RIGHT to steal our property by force.

Understand that monopolies produce terrible products for high prices, and as time goes on the quality goes down and the prices go up...yet are shocked that the US public school system is producing terrible students.

Understand the iron economic law that you always get more of what you subsidize...yet think that subsidizing poverty will do anything but increase it.

Believe that monopolies are terrible for quality in business....and essential for quality in government.

Would never steal from your neighbors..., but passionately support others stealing on your behalf.

Think the problem with the system is just that we have the 'wrong people' running it.

Think that murdering innocent people is evil...unless that person is wearing a uniform.

Think people not yet born can agree to a 'social contract'.

Give the government the right to steal money by force...yet get surprised when it uses that money to do evil things.

Ask for examples of successful anarchy...yet ignore the fact that you and everyone you know lives on anarchistic principles.

Think that there are evil people, and therefore we need a State...and don't see the contradiction.

Think that anarchists are the ones who haven't spent enough time questioning their beliefs.

    Add some of your own!

(Also, we could do a series of these regarding:  Intellectuals, Post Modernists, Christians)

You might be a statist if you call anarchists bomb-throwing lunatics after you dropped several bombs upon a village full of brown people.

    Yes

I like it.  It was yet funnier in my head, because it was actually Jeff Foxworthy reading your post.

You understand that communism was a utter disaster and caused massive poverty and destroyed the wealth, productivity, motivation and lives of it's citizens....yet fail to see that the United States has implemented 9/10th of the Marx's "Planks of Communism"
