I became vegetarian 8 years ago in highschool when I became disgusted with the idea of eating meat and the all the things surrounding the meat industry (ie animal cruelty, environmental concerns, and the 16 pounds of grain to make 1 pound of meat). I went along like that untill maybe 4-5months ago when my wife became sensitive to all dairy products; thus leading to our veganism. I had tried to be vegan before but just didn't really have the motivation to pull it off. Since that obsticle was removed things have never been better in the kitchen. My already pretty good cooking got way better and the food we eat is the best tasting food I've ever had. Even though I was pushed into veganism by my wifes stomach, now that I'm here, I think it's much better and plan to never go back.
