    ellow

    Hey

My names Henry and appart from one article on my theory of how the mind has evolved, I'm a freedomain board starter

i hail from an area just around London, and i found out about this through my sister, AKA abracadabrahereishannah (why Hannah? why?)

I'm have a firm belief in evolution and have had many a debate on the existance of god (the Christian one in particular) with the brainwashed, illogical, and misguided people at my school who came out with such jewels as "Why cant you just let god in?!"

yeah cos what everyone wants is a murderous superpower who has one of the most twisted senses of logic known to mankind.

I'm 14 and at the moment I am struggling a bit with the way life is, i find myself thinking how twisted some of my friends are, how quick they are to accept the atmosphere of a dictatorship in a classroom,

and for instance just accepting that we have to earn respect from teachers but they must automatically get respect from us

I really love music, such as Radiohead, Sigur ros, Mars Volta, some blues just good musicianship in general

i play the guitar, bass guitar, the piano, and the double bass, I sing now and then too.

this is probably a bit of a rubbish intro to me but I'm a little bit nervy about how I'm going to be percived.

Annywayyyy. Hope to speak to some of you soon, thanks for reading

    Henry xx

A bass player who likes Radiohead, Sigur Ros, and Mars Volta.  Nice.  From one bass player to another... welcome home! Wink

    Hey Henry!

Great to have you back on the boards. What exactly bothers you about your school friends?

Bored as usual... but fine.  That's pretty cool that you're 14 and play so many instruments.  I started playing bass when I was 14 or 15.

well, not so much what bothers me mate, just because I dont really fit into a group such as a chav, an emo, or a jock or whatever, and thats what groups the people in my year really hang out with, i dont really join in with them, i got a completely different taste in music, and my beliefs are different and people are now starting to like stuff (like movies and series and music) i was into about 3 years ago so its just a bit frustrating.

Thank god you don't fit into any of those groups. I tend to think they're a shell for people to hide behind.

What are the differences in your beliefs?

23, with one more month to go.

and have you hurd of jaco pastorius and Victor Wooten

Absolutely.  They're probably two of my greatest influences.  Jaco most of all, I think, but I listen to more of Victor Wooten's stuff.

i love your little quote at the end

Thanks.  I wish I could claim it was mine.  Cory Doctorow is one of the writers at BoingBoing - sometimes he's a bit of a nutty socialist, but he can be hilarious when he's not ranting.  He's one of the type that's big on privacy and net neutrality... but also for government regulation. Hmm

I haven't made any more videos in a while, but if you want to see me playing bass I have a YouTube page and some shared songs.

most people just believe what their told and when i ask questions its pretty much frowned upon. and i agree about the whole groups thing, just i have a bit of a problem with people never expanding their horizons or just sticking to what other people do like just listening to chart music

    Re: ellow

Boy do I know what you're talking about!

Things like that can be a pain. I've had to cut off a whole lot of friends for behaving that way (and in other ways), and they really don't like it when you cut the off.

I kind of think there is a connection between the two points in what you're saying. These people join the social groups, in part, because it gives them an excuse to have opinions without actually giving it any thought, but when you challenge them for their reasons you're rocking their whole way of life... so they react negativly. It's tough.

I think the best advice I was given was to be curious about their positions and try to get them curious in yours. Unless they're abusive at which point you run. Smile

    ........quickly

well basicly i've just thought that however important this set of "friends" are now, all thats going to happen when i go to uni and stuff is i get different ones so, as long as eventualy i find a mate who i can honestly say without holding back is a good friend then i'm fine, people who choose to confine themselves and be named as a group desurve to be that way and not reach the potential they have

Arranging, too?  Wow, impressive.  I took a music theory class in high school and had to arrange a song for the full band.  The song only ended up being 1.5 minutes long... what a pain.  I can only do bass and a little guitar part writing now.  It's too much work to transcribe all of the parts.
