    Great Music

Check it out, I know Stef is into Middle-Eastern stuff like me...

I call for a truce with the Anarchist Left. Stef is a very intelligent man and a man of great virtue. We are all brothers and sisters, we should act like it. I love you all.

As a musician, I have always been fascinated by eastern musical systems, because they introduce something known as micro-tonality into the mix and have alot of akward "scales" or "modes" that can be incorporated on the guitar and piano.

    This is getting absurd.

    Re: Great Music

I also get a kick out of the difference in the concepts of music in other cultures. In Ghana, music is inseparable from movement and dance, and in some southeast asian cultures it is explicitly something for worship and in some cases all music becomes a form of worship. It is interesting the roles music takes in the various lives on this planet- how you can go to a concert hall and see all these people sitting completely still in the middle of something as powerfully evocative as Verdi's Requiem (when it is all i can do not to move) and then look at an entire group of people wildly dancing to a repetitive rhythm on a single jembe. Or to see Tuvan throat singers using the music as a game or as a way to communicate across distances. I am enraptured by the things people do with sound!!

It's because it deletes the whole thread and not just the post.  Please.  Stop.
