Re: First Annual Defoo Christmas and New Year Party!

I vote Mexico, if only because I don't want to have to go through the US. (English teachers who don't want to go through US airport security unite! Wink) It's also very much cheaper than California, which is quite attractive, and - depdending on where in Mexico - faster to get to from most of the places that FDR'ers live. Thailand is also a splendid idea, but it's a pretty long haul from the US.

That being said, I'll go where y'all go!

I vote for CA. I most likely won't be able to do Mexico at this particular time :(

and the winner is.... Cancun, Mexico!!!

We may not be in the tourist centre itself, but we will be somewhere in easy striking distance, so if you want to come and hang out on the philosophy beach, then you can plan travel to Cancun airport Smile

    Hasta Luego Amigos!

I believe it will be anytime between December 20, and January 10.

In otherwords, pick your own dates?

Can anyone point me to some UBER-cheap digs in Cancun?

Or, would anyone be willing to multi-up on a room?

The basic idea is to have a meetup for Christmas day (also known as "Defoo Day" Smile) and New Years Eve. Beyond that everyone can of course hang out as much with each other as they like, or do their own thing if they prefer. As Greg said, you may want to choose your dates depending on flights and work etc. Personally I plan to be there from around the 20th Dec to sometime between 5th and 10th Jan.

Yes... I am extremely cheap - err, "frugal" - and wouldn't mind cramming a room full of FDR people.

I'm down for a multi-room, too.  I'd like to keep this trip as cheap as possible!

This is awesome!  I was already planning to take myself to Mexico (right near Cancun) for winter break!

I'll be there for sure & I am willing to help organize, find rooms, etc.

    So excited!

I can attest as to Laura's wonderful kindness and competence in organizing things, with regards to the Miami meetup she was just amazing! Smile

I'll certainly try to make it for even just a few days if I can. I know the new job has some serious Christmas events to work, so I'll see if I can take a three-day weekend for it to meet some of you. I'll have to work on getting my passport.

    I'm excited! Cool

This isn't looking good for me... I checked plane tickets and flights from Japan to Cancun are $$$... if I can find someone to share a cheap, cheap room, maybe I can make it work, but I dunno [:'(]
