    Re: The Moment Of Turn

    James A Pyrich:

I was not circumcised at birth, but a number of years later.  My mother had the idea, perhaps through her obsessive consultation of contemporary parenting books, that the foreskin ought to be retracted in order to clean the glans.  I was not able to retract mine beyond a certain point without pain, and so I was whisked to a urologist, given a diagnosis of "phimosis" (a diagnosis not even remotely appropriate for a prepubescent male), and circumcised under anaesthesia in a hospital.

It's certainly one of the more gruesome aspects of my own history.

The foreskin is naturally like that early in life, it separates naturally on its own and no one should try to forcibly retract it if it hurts. If it can't retract, it hasn't separated and no dirt has accumulated therefore it is already perfectly clean.

I'm sorry to hear what you went through. I can just imagine how inhuman it was. But I'm still glad you're getting your story out so that other children may not have to go through the same thing.

I didn't want to believe you. I looked it up and it's just...well, I have no words.

    Re: The Moment Of Turn

I have been reading these and I just want cringe! I have heard a baby scream like he was being killed as soon as this was done to him. I have also been present when an adult man had this done under a local for medical reasons. I hope they have some other way of treating phimosis now. (actual phimosis caused by diabetes untreated) Even when pain is gone and function restored, sensation is ruined. Anyway, sex is no longer appealing for him.

I really feel bad for James. What a horrific experience.

I would think this assault on a new born in his first few minutes of life has to have some mental or emotional effect on him. If it happened to me, I'm not sure I would want to trust those who are supposed to "love" me.Or doctors, either for that matter.

    Re: The Moment Of Turn

But we do know what we're missing. We've done studies which show that natural men have 4 times the sensitivity.

But there is no way for me to KNOW what four times the sensitivity actually feels like, so from my point of view it's all speculation and imagination.

whether foreskin is nothing or everything about sensitivity, it's still removed without the permission of the genital's owner [by initiation of violence]. You'd think a baby's terrifying painful screams and then semi-mute hum afterwards would be understood as 'no', but I guess that Doctor "Do No Harm" doesn't see it that way.

You've got no argument from me here.

I think it's far easier to miss something you've never had, because you've never personally experienced it. It could by anything. It could be the most wonderful thing in the universe.

Is there some fruit you've never tasted, but have only heard other people say that the taste of it blows away all other fruits you've ever had? You may want to try it, but do you actually miss it?

From where I'm standing, to "miss" something is to experience a sense of loss over something you once had and have no longer.

My circumscision was so long ago I can't remember, unless I'd want to go through the pain of some kind of really deep psychotherapy or memory regression stuff and I don't see the point of reliving that particular part of my life, so I just don't feel that way about my dick, though I do appreciate what I've been allowed to keep. ;-)

Probably. And I'd bet good money (if it actually existed) that for those of us who had it done at birth, that the memory is buried in there somewhere available for recall with enough psychotherapy or some kind of memory regression techniques, which I alluded to in another response.

Here's a thought ... Who are the bigger horn dogs? Natural or circumcised males? What does it do to the male libido? Keep in mind that in answering this question, I'm only concerned at this point about males who were circumcised at birth and therefore likely have no readily active memory regarding the procedure, not those who have had any sexual stimulation or activity prior to the procedure as an adult.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned foreskin restoration.  The process doesn't restore you 100% but it's an option.
