    FDR Chat Question

Not sure if this is possible, if it has been discussed, or ...

But one thing that kinda bugs me for various reasons is that there is no time index in the chat scroller. I don't know about anyone else, but I'd kinda like to see that (among other things), much like other IRC clients which tend to follow the pattern:

    [hh:mm] <nickname> : message text ...

So my questions are: Has it been discussed? How do Stef and others feel about it? Is it possible? If it's not possible via the browser chat (the window that opens off the forum link(s)), is it possible to connect to the chat server using a standard IRC client and get a time index in that way, among other things like DCC and features offered by typical IRC clients? If the last option is available, is the hostname or IP and channel index posted anywhere on this forum for that purpose?

    Thanks!

Time stamps are quite possible. They were turned on originally, but the concensus at the time was that they cluttered the text too much to make the benefit of a timestamp worthwhile.

Feel free to chime in, if you think we should consider reinstating the timestamp.

I suppose there is no way to make it a user option?

At least that way, those of us who want them can have them and vice-versa.

If you save the chat log, the file name will be the time you saved it if you don't change it.Would that help?
