My main problem with most fiction is that its inconsistent with itself and reality, so it's a bit odd that I like comic book superheroes so much. I was thinking earlier and I think I have somewhat of an idea why: a superhero is the physical equivalent of good philosophy. If one looks into all the petty psychoses that plague the human race it is pretty easy to devastate them, presuming one isn't intellectually closed to the possibility. Absolute devastation of the concepts of subserviance and Statism require about ten minutes, yet we are faced with the fact that people's actions are consequences of their ideas (even if those ideas are wrong). The superhero is the embodiment of someone who can deal directly with these consequences and deny idiotic actions in the same way reason denies idiotic ideas.
