    "To the Instruments of Empire"

Posting just because... maybe somebody finds it interesting.

Out of the pot and into the pan
One day a boy, the next day a man
I sit in this hole with a gun in my hand
Sizing up bodies whenever I can

Out of the cage and into the flames
Stoking the fire that taunts as it tames
None of these children have any names
None of these corpses know why we came

The bigots guffaw while the patriots grin
As everyone changes the meaning of "win"
To a syllable loud enough to silence the din
    Of our unempathetic, murderous sin

Out of the pan and into the ground
Some call it swimming, but I say I drowned
In a world where freedom is only a sound
On the lips of fools with heartstrings unwound

That's wonderful, Charlie! Did you write that?
