Re: Highly recommended - FDR1099: Optimism and History

    I was thinking later:

The reason why I did not think random posting of a link for free books on anarchism would work, is because it would not have worked on me 5 years ago (projection). The promotor would have went in the catagory Jehova's witnesses dressed in black leather throwing stones at a WTO meetings. If that person would have floored me with some philosophical jiujiutsu first, thinks might have been different.

(I later realized I misunderstood 'random posting of links'; it was about posting on sites with similar (libertarian/atheisitic) ideas, although you could say that Limi has similar ideas)

Why did link posting have success so far? People who are already in the freedom camp, give it a look and this gives a strong rampup in listeners. Maybe we have run out of people who already had these ideas and are open to new ideas with just a link. For the next catagorie we have to cast the net a little wider, but these people will quickly realise these ideas get them out of the main stream and not just a little bit out of the main stream like at LRC and Mises, but this stream is still so small that your boat might easily get stuck in the mud. People who are prepared to give this small trickle a second look are mostly people that are already stuck in life.

I think what will work in our advantage is that the mainstream will dry up, as initiation of violence is a dead end. Especially inflationary times are a boost for freedom. If only Ayn Rand had not thrown her weight behind Reagan as the solution after the 70s inflation.

Violence has nothing with which to cover itself except the lie, and the lie has nothing to stand on other than violence. Any man who has once acclaimed violence as his method must inexorably choose the lie as his principle. Solzhenitsyn, Alexander
