I've decided once that once I get a stable income (or rather an income at all; I'm interning at Doubledown Media in NYC right now), I'm going to donate boatloads of money to FDR.
Once I sort of gain control of my small amount of finances I'll give a little something to tide you over! So, short story time on that note. I have a natural inclination for economics, the financial markets, etc. On my 17th birthday I was gonna get this sweet ass stereo system for my car, but it was like $2500. My dad was like, do you want this or do you want $2500 to invest? I ended up doing the latter; I bought 100 shares of Nintendo (the guys who make the Wii game console; HOPEFULLY you know this phenomenon!) at $25 a share in 2006. Now it's hovered around $70 a share for the last six months. Woot!
Whenever I gain control of my gifts and eventually sell the stock (I estimate a peak of $80+ per share during Q4 '08 or Q1 '09 for those of you who care), I'm giving a bunch to FDR. PHILOSOPHY ROX!!!1!1!
Stef, I've also been tinkering with an anarchic currency idea and discussed it with a friend of mine quite a bit. Someday I shall discuss with you this brilliant idea! I have a concept for an exchange medium that could (in fantasy land) displace the usage of dollars without actually breaking the law, and since people wouldn't technically be gaining income via dollars, they wouldn't be paying taxes, and the gov't therefore dries up naturally under it's own framework!
