    Anarchy Cartoonist

Well I've posted but not properly introduced myself, so here goes.

I knew of Stefan and his podcasts, but I didn't know there was a forum here until someone mentioned that they'd seen a cartoon of mine here. Actually I think it was Stefan. I emailed him on YouTube, about a cartoon I'd done and he wrote back and said he'd seen it on his forum. I was very honored. I'm a big fan of Stefan. I love it when people repost my cartoons. Free promotion as far as I'm concerned so no need to request permission.

My name's Dale, nickname Dalebert because I'm a fan of Scott Adams and the Dilbert cartoons. In most forums you'll see me as either Dalebert or occasionally as AnarchyInYourHead. I moved to New Hampshire as part of the Free State Project. I was already a voluntaryist but was still concocting elaborate justifications for continuing political activism, like for the Ron Paul campaign. I was shortly thereafter converted by a FDR fan. I had not as yet renounced political activity completely- that whole fighting fire with fire thing that we all know is mental masturbation- might make you feel better for a little while, but doesn't accomplish a damn thing in the long run. Shortly thereafter, I ended up making a couple of cartoons that, weren't actually against Ron Paul per se, but they did use him as an example of the futility and immorality of political activism. It's ironic because I was inspired to make my first cartoon in response to the media blackout of Ron Paul, so it was a pro-Paul cartoon.

My latest toon has an Easter Egg (hidden link) that links to some FDR stuph. It seemed particularly relevant to my topic at the time.

I'm going to try to visit here more often but I think something here seems to be crashing my browser so I'm going to try to figure out what that is and if it's a problem that can be fixed on my end. If it continues, I'll try to make note of which page(s). Maybe it's just a weird coincidence.

Hello and welcome, Dalebert. I'm relatively new here as well.

I haven't gone all the way through your comics, and I've enjoyed the ones I have read thus far. Keep up the good work!

If you don't mind me asking, how is the FSP-NH going, specifically for you? Are you enjoying it?

Yea I used to be a Ron Paul supporter myself, for me it was the last straw. It's quite apparent that the system cannot elect anyone with good virtues. Political activism doesn't work, so maybe I will be changing my opinion that a Libertarian form of government would be a good transition into Anarchy. But the only reason I can't is that a violent transition to it presents many problems.

Howdy howdy, Dale. I'm a fan of your cartoons as well, as I'm sure you're aware. How far through the FDR podcast series are you/are you listening and watching in order? Have you picked up any of the books and whatnot? Just curious as to how much of the FDR cult lingo I should use around you Stick out tongue If this is covered in a different post already, please link me to it, and sorry for the duplicate request. I'm really liking it. Though I came up here expecting to be politically active and withdrew from that, there are a LOT of apolitical voluntaryist types here. I have no interest in political campaigning. My only interest in politics now is to make fun of it, and I do that in spades! I'm mainly interested in creating our own media and being around people that have their morality screwed on straight, people you can trust and be truly grateful for as friends. And this is the place to get that! While not every single one of the people who joins the FSP fits that, quite a lot do, and those are the ones I forge solid friendships with.

I'm not sure why you see it as either / or. The State exists and grows because people support it in various ways- morally, financially, vocally, politically, etc. Start withdrawing that support and encourage others to do the same. If there's any chance of us having a smaller government, and I'm not confident there is, but if there's any chance, that's how I think it will happen, by taking the fuel out of the machine. Political activism certainly won't do it; at least not in any way that's significant in the long-run. That just adds fuel to the machine.

UPDATE: When I said either / or I was referring to or rather disputing the notion that we must choose either political activism or violent revolution. I don't see it as a choice between those two things. I think that's a false dichotomy like the idea that we must all chose either Republican or Democrat.

I'm about 5 or 6 in off the top of my head, and yes, I'm listening to them in order. I'm sure I'd be a lot further along if I had a portable device but I tend to listen to them when I'm just sitting at home and can afford to be distracted, which isn't often. I'm usually home because I'm working on my technical things for my site, or cartoons, or products for the site, or promoting the site, etc. I've watched a number of his YouTube videos, most of the ones that he's put out recently if they're not too terribly long, for about... I'd say several months now. I was thinking of buying the whole book set if I can get it at Border's because I have a gift card built up from my VISA card purchases back when I made money, but not sure it will work. I'm kind of dirt poor right now as I've stubbornly insisted on making a living some other way than just getting another steady software job. I want to make my site profitable but that will take time and I'm looking into other things I can do freelance- perhaps customize sites for people or something. I'm learning a lot about it in the process of developing my own site.

Welcome again, Dale. If you have any questions while listening through the podcast series feel free to ask away.

What is the difference between fate and destiny? Imagine yourself on a supremely windy day. If you just sit there, and let the wind take you where it will, that's fate. But if you are the deciding factor of where you will go--even against the wind--that is destiny.

Oh how I wish you could get the books at Borders! Dude, your cartoons are great and I enjoyed all of them. I know I would be willing to pay you, say $39 worth of Stef's books for what I got out of them. It'd be like killing two birds with one stone, spreading the ideas/supporting FDR and encouraging you to continue your work. Beer

That's really kind of you. Now if I could just get 40 more Stef credits worth of contributions I could get the whole set at that great discounted rate! Confused

$39 will get you all of them on PDF. $49 will get you all of them in audio format (which I highly recommend). If you would like the audio versions then I could swing that.

I have to be honest that I don't fancy sitting in front of my computer to read a book and I'm not sure I'd ever get around to it. I would probably get around to listening to them over time. I am slowly getting through podcasts. I'm in the middle of 6 right now. I'm kind of squeezing it in when I can. I really ought to look into a portable device; maybe even a shuffle or some similar non-Apple version. I don't care much for the fancy displays anyway and when I had an iPod, I almost always had the music on shuffle anyway. I do think Stefan expresses his words well and you probably get more out of it than just reading them off a page.

P.S. I mentioned it in another thread, but in case you don't read it there, there is a new comic strip up as of this morning.

Your cartoons are great! I also do a webcomic, but mine is more vanilla, so not as potent. Anyways, I linked to your site from mine. (http://thebeardedbanana.com/) If there's anything else I can do to promote your comic, let me know.

The Bearded Banana is a superhero who acts like the government:

This not-yet-published strip was inspired by Stefan Molyneux:
