    Gigaplex - Introduction

    Hello everyone,

I am 24 and live in Des Moines, Iowa. I just joined the board and this is my first post. I joined after seeing Stefbot's video about Ron Paul: Politics vs Personal Liberty. I was the one that made the recent comment that the "against me" argument should be backed up with statistics that prove it's workability before telling people to abandon the political approach. I'm sure we'll have some interesting discussions about that. I do think it is possible to conduct a scientific experiment to test this method, its success rate, its efficiency, its weaknesses, etc.

Really, though, the main reason is that I just need a place where I can have a good intellectual conversations. Anarchists are usually worthy debate opponents for me and so this seems like the perfect place to get some interesting conversations going.

As for my political views, I am a libertarian that advocates an extremely minimal government and am very active in politics. Ron Paul is the one responsible for my newfound libertarianism and got me interested in Austrian Economics. I was somewhat apathetic and uninterested before. Rothbard's "For a New Liberty" was the first book I read on any of this stuff.

Ultimately I'd like to see a market anarchy but don't won't to be the guinea pig. I'm not totally convinced that a market anarchy would work. I've never received satisfactory answers about free market courts despite my searching and that's really the only part of market anarchy that I've found to be unreasonable in my opinion. Nevertheless, I want to see it tried. It seems absurd to me that the world was willing to try communism but not market anarchy.

As for religion, I don't believe in evolution in it's current theoretical form and do not believe in creationism in it's current form either so this will lead to some interesting discussions. My actual religion is scientology if it must have a label. I should probably point out right away though that Scientology is an applied philosophy, the Church of Scientology is a corrupt organization and Hubbard was just a man. Contrary to popular opinion, they are in fact three separate things.

So maybe that sums me up good enough for now. I'm looking forward to some great conversations in the future :)

Welcome aboard, great to have you with us!

You might want to have a listen to the DRO theory in the first few podcasts, it might help stimulate some debate about courts and justice in a free market environment...Smile
